Christine Lagarde tapped as next president of Europe’s central bank

Christine Lagarde, head of the International Monetary Fund, has been tapped as the next leader of the European Central Bank.

The European Council announced Lagarde’s nomination Tuesday. She would replace Mario Draghi, whose eight-year term ends in October.
