Worth County Tennis receives new equipment from Wilson Sporting Goods and Second Serve

Wilson Sporting Goods and the Second Serve organization helped provide the Rams with new equipment.

SYLVESTER, GA- Both the Worth County men’s and women’s tennis teams received not one, but two, grants that will help them serve up a good season.

“It was just a blessing in disguise you know, to receive the rackets,” said Diane Beck, Worth County Head Tennis Coach.

The Rams recently received 12 rackets and 8 pairs of tennis shoes from Second Serve, a non-profit organization that provides programs with slightly used equipment.

They were then granted 10 more brand new rackets from Wilson Sporting Goods. Beck says this new equipment will boost both her athlete’s confidence and performance.

“The new rackets will just provide them even more opportunities for playing and getting better at things. You know when you are looking good and feeling good, you play better,” Beck said.

But this equipment won’t last forever so Beck encourages the community to support the team, too.

“We could use things like a can of tennis balls. They’re all high school students, some of them work, some of them don’t but you know, they might not be able to afford a good racket to play with,” said Beck.

Not only will support help the team achieve their goals, but also Coach Beck’s goal of teaching the game to others.

“You have rec football, rec baseball and all that, but you don’t have tennis and you have to pay for tennis lessons. What we want to do is provide lessons and opportunities for people and students to come out and play.” Beck said.
