Former First Lady Rosalynn Carter diagnosed with dementia

The Carter Center made the announcement Tuesday afternoon.

PLAINS, Ga. – It is a sad day in Plains as Former First Lady Rosalynn Carter has been diagnosed with dementia.

She is 95-years-old.

The Carter Center made the announcement Tuesday afternoon.

Carter who had been living at home with her 98-year-old husband, Former President Jimmy Carter, continued to visit with loved ones.

We caught up with two visitors at the Plains High School Museum who lived in Plains and knew the Carters.

According to the Carter Center, 1 in 10 older Americans suffer from dementia and they hope that the news of Mrs. Carter’s diagnosis will spur conversations about the condition.
