‘Petal’ to the metal…

Albany Floral prepares for 105th Mother's Day

ALBANY, Ga. – The Albany Floral and Gift Shop has been a staple in the Good Life City for years. In fact, this weekend makes the 105th year the small business will be helping bring smiles to mothers all around.

“Well… it’s our second busiest time of the year, so we work pretty hard,” said Lynn Terry, Owner; Albany Floral & Gift Shop.

Terry says they purchase almost 10 thousand dollars worth of roses for Mother’s Day…and the store if offering multiple specials for customers.

“We have dozens of roses for 85 a dozen, we have big boxes of chocolate for 25 dollars, we have teddy bears, all different kinds and colors. But, if you want to come in and browse, come on in early so you can get a good selection,” said Terry.

Terry says every bouquet is cut, picked, and made by hand which can take time, and orders are already piling up.

“We’ve already started our rush and it’ll be real bad until the first of next week. try to at least get your order in by Thursday if you want it delivered on Friday or Saturday, flowers go fast,” said Terry.

Florists have faced a decline due to the pandemic and online floral delivery services.

Although it seems easier, Terry believes there are multiple reasons her customers have a better experience than using third party delivery services.

“Ours are fresh. A lot of places online don’t have a flower shop in town, so they’ll be making calls to us florists to get us to fill it. And sometimes they can’t find people who will do it for that price. So they call them back and tell them it’ll cost more and more… so it’s best to start off with a florists because you know what you’re going to get and you wont get all the hidden fees…” said Terry.

Albany Floral has arranged for their drivers to deliver to surrounding areas like Lee, Worth counties and Baconton, Putney and Dawson areas so every Mother can be celebrated…

“Anybody that has a mother really needs to appreciate them and buy them flowers or anything they need, because they’re only here for one time,” said Terry.

You can place and order and support their small business by calling the number (229) 436-3387 or visit their website  albanyfloral.com and like she said do it early because business here at Albany Floral is already “blooming…”
