Phoebe Putney reinstitute ER visitations
(ALBANY, GA) – The Phoebe Health System has finished up their renovations to their emergency center on the main campus.
With these done, the hospital is moving forward with reinstating visitations for ER patients.
“Coming into the Emergency Department for anyone is an unsettling situation. No one wants to be in the Emergency Department, and it helps when you also have your loved one with you to rely on,” says Chief Nursing Officer, Evelyn Olenick.
The new look for Phoebe’s Emergency Room is taking COVID-19 protocols at the hospital into mind.
Those who have COVID-19 will have a separate waiting room and several exam rooms in order to minimize spread.
Olenick tells us, “So if patients are coming in with the typical covid signs and symptoms and experiencing that temperature, and the upper respiratory symptoms, our goal is to keep them separate from others seeking emergency treatments.”
As the situation in Phoebe’s Emergency Department improves to where visitation can continue, it offers a major benefit to patients: a sense of comfort in the middle of uncertainty.
“We understand, it has been a strain with our patients coming in because they have been separated from their loved ones. And certainly with health and healing, we understand that it is very important,” says Olenick.
The Phoebe Health System as of last week has just over 30 COVID-19 patients at the main campus.
