(ALBANY, GA) – Being able to find a job or go back to school has been difficult during the COVID-19 pandemic, that’s why Albany Technical College has created a new network called Purple Briefcase to help med the gap between students and employers.

“Purple Briefcase allows our students to set up job search profiles, they’re able to post resumes, search for internships, and other essential learning opportunities. And also follow those whom they consider to be their preferred employer,” says ATV Associate Vice President of Career Services, Judy Jimmerson.

The Purple Briefcase connects more than 300 area employers to potentially thousands of Albany Tech students.

It also helps to keep the job search safe as both parties can safely maintain social distancing.

Jimmerson tells us, “This is an opportunity where social distancing can take place easily. Because students can publicly post their resumes and those employers can then then pull those resumes to view them and contact students.”

To many on the outside, it may seem early to judge the efficacy of Purple Briefcase and how many students are able to successfully find jobs.

Though Jimmerson isn’t worried about how well this new network will do in helping students take that next big step.

She says, “As those students receive employment opportunities and internship opportunities, we’re able to track that success inside purple briefcase. So we’ll be able to gauge or success that way.”
