(ALBANY, GA) – Albany Technical College quietly restarted their Fall Semester, Thursday as the trade school held their first day of classes.

While there are still concerns over COVID-19, albany tech is working to make sure that some labs can still be held on campus.

ATC President, Dr. Anthony Parker tells us, “There are some classes that are 100% online, and most of our students are scheduled to come to the college for lab classes and lab works, and we’re making sure to do temperature checks when they arrive.”

Dr Parker says that while they are still holding labs on campus, there will be some changes for many of the programs: mainly that only a small amount of students will be able to work on labs at one time.

“In something like ems, there would normally be maybe 10-12 students observing a procedure together. We may have one or two students now observing that same procedure while being socially distanced, says Parker.

While only having a minimal number of students could add stress to those teaching the courses, Albany Tech isn’t giving up.

Dr Parker is confident not just in his faculty, but in his students as well, but he and Albany Tech are still going to find a way to get lab information to all students.

He says, “There are ways of delivering quality instruction without bringing a lot of students in contact with each other, without being socially distant. We have to find out what those ways are,”

Dr parker says they will also be holding additional entry registration dates with the first one being in early October
