Albany City Commission discusses new garbage contract

Dougherty County Covid 19 Task Force Gathers For Update

(ALBANY, GA) – The Albany City Commission held a special meeting this morning to discuss a new residential garbage pickup contract.

Commissioners assessed deals with several regional disposal groups to handle the city’s garbage.

While the City of Albany’s current contract is set to expire on September 30th, they’ve already made a request for an extension.

City Manager, Sharon Subadan says that the new deal would also go towards some advancements for garbage pickups.

In the meeting, she said, “What we would do is have a monthly reporting out on this contract based on the terms and conditions, and expectations that have been outlined in the contract. The nice thing about this is we will have electronic data, video footage, GPS data…”

The new contract would run through Fall of 2021.
