Dougherty County approves purchase of new fire tanker truck
(ALBANY, GA) – Dougherty County’s Fire Departments will be getting a boost very soon with a new unit.
During Monday’s commission meeting, the county commission approved the purchase of a new tanker truck for more than $465,000.
District Six Commissioner, Anthony Jones says that the new tanker will go a long way in helping fight fires in unincorporated areas of Dougherty County due to a lack of resources.
Jones says, “In most of the unincorporated areas, they don’t have fire hydrants out there, so these trucks have to have the water with them. So these tanker trucks are going to help us.”
Commissioner Jones says the county keeps a rotation of the trucks as each one is used for 13 years.
