44-year-old man injured in Cordele shooting on East 16th Avenue
CORDELE, Ga. — Police are investigating an early morning shooting that left one man injured in Cordele.
According to the Cordele Police Department, officers responded just before 3 a.m. to the 1500 block of East 16th Avenue after receiving reports of a shooting.
When officers arrived, they found a 44-year-old man suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Police provided emergency first aid at the scene until Crisp County EMS arrived. The victim was then transported to Crisp Regional Hospital for further treatment.
Authorities say no other injuries were reported in connection with the incident.
Detectives have since launched an active investigation and are working to determine the circumstances surrounding the shooting. Officials say evidence is being collected and investigators are pursuing leads as they work to identify and locate those responsible.
The Cordele Police Department also thanked the Crisp County Sheriff’s Office, Crisp County EMS, and the Cordele Fire Department for assisting with the response.
Because the investigation remains ongoing, police say no additional information is being released at this time.
