UPDATE: Two suspects charged in West Mercer double homicide after 6 month investigation
Albany Police have charged and identified two suspects in a 2022 fatal shooting
ALBANY, GA- On Tuesday, Albany Police Department (APD) detectives have identified two suspects in a double homicide that occurred on West Mercer Avenue in Albany.
Keanu Mizell and her husband Ambakisye Mizell are the two suspects allegedly responsible for the fatal shooting that killed two back in August of 2022.
On August 15th, APD officers responded to the 300 block of West Mercer Avenue in reference to a call of shots fired.
Both victims, Alonzo Jones Jr. (25) and Keshawn Griffin (20) died from multiple gunshot wounds. One was pronounced dead upon the arrival of officers, the other passed before EMS could arrive.
After a six month long investigation, and securing warrants on February 21, 2023, APD charged both Keanu and Ambaskisye Mizell with Felony Murder.
Keanu Mizell is currently in the Dougherty County Jail on charges not related to this incident and her husband Ambakisye Mizell resides in the Cobb County jail on a murder charge not related to this case.
Albany Police Department says additional warrants in this case are forthcoming.
