Two perish in Sumter County plane crash

AMERICUS, Ga. — Authorities have confirmed that two people have perished in a plane crash that occurred in Sumter County this morning.

Workers with Horne Farms in the 300 block of Old Andersonville Road discovered the wreckage of a small engine plane just at around 9:30 a.m.

Chief Deputy Eric Bryant of the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office held a press conference near the scene today.

The cause of the crash, nor the identities of the victims has been determined as of yet.
