Search continues for missing Irwin County teen

OCILLA, Ga. — Police continue to search for an Irwin County teen that has been missing for two weeks and is asking the public for help.

Fifteen-year old Shelby Summey was last seen on Tuesday, May 21, 2019 at Wiregrass Georgia Technical College in Ben Hill County. According to reports from the Ocilla Police Department, new details are beginning to emerge. Witnesses have reported seeing Summey on Thursday, May 23 at an apartment complex in Berrien County. The witness informed police that they saw Summey enter a dark in color vehicle driven by an unknown black male. The vehicle reportedly had Lowndes County tags. It is believed that the teen has ties to both Berrien and Lowndes Counties and those law enforcement agencies have joined in the search.

Police say they know that Summey was not abducted, she is a runaway, but is still considered to be in danger.

“We fear for her safety,” said Detective Doug Douglas with the Ocilla Police Department. “She is a runaway, but the longer she stays out there is dangerous.”

A $500 reward has been offered for information leading to locating Summey.
