GBI identifies the deceased as 48 year old Donald Myers

RAY CITY, Ga. – The GBI says it is investigating a fatal officer involved shooting in Berrien County last night that has left a 48 year old man dead.

Ray City Police were responding to a wellness check around 6:45pm at a Pauline Drive address where they encountered a knife wielding man, who has since been identified as Donald Myers.

Officers fired on Myers as he approached them, per a GBI statement.

First aid was administered to Myers as he awaited transport to a Valdosta hospital, where he later died.

An autopsy will be performed as the investigation continues, but agents want to hear from anyone who may have information in the case.
