Phoebe Sumter Hosts 15th Annual Ties That Bind Event

AMERICUS, Ga. – Phoebe Sumter hosted its 15th annual Ties that Bind Luncheon last week, giving boys an opportunity to spend quality time with male role models and get a lesson on how to tie a necktie.

The guest speaker was Emory McKenzie who attended the Ties that Bind event as a young man. He now works as a geologist for Chevron in Texas. Emory said, “It was great to be able to be mentored by community leaders at such a young age. Learning how to tie a tie is a basic skill that has allowed me to help others who don’t know how. I can’t put a value on how important it has been to me. I am glad I was able to pick up a skill of tying a tie at an early age.”

Phoebe Sumter thanks Emory for his motivational words, and appreciates all the community leaders who took time to have a positive impact on our future leaders.
