Phoebe Sumter Community Listening Session Thursday Evening
Event Scheduled for Thursday, May 14 at GSW Conference Center
AMERICUS, Ga. – Phoebe Sumter Medical Center will host a Community Listening Session on Thursday, May 14, at 6:00 p.m. at the Georgia Southwestern State University (GSW) Conference Center, located at 1800 South Lee Street in Americus. This session is part of Phoebe Sumter’s ongoing commitment to transparency, community engagement, and continuous improvement in patient care.
The focus of the evening will be the Emergency Center, including current operations, community needs, and opportunities for enhancement. Hospital leadership and clinical representatives will be present to share updates, listen to feedback, and answer questions from residents.
“It is a privilege for us to serve people in and around Sumter County, and we want to know what they think about us. We want to hear what we’re doing well, but we also need to know how the community would like us to change and improve,” said Carlyle Walton, Phoebe Sumter President.
The listening session will focus on the emergency center, but any questions about Phoebe Sumter will be welcomed. In addition to Walton, Chief Medical Officer Chinyelu Ofodile, DO; Chief Nursing Officer & Chief Operating Officer Kelsey Reed, DNP; and emergency center leaders will be present to answer questions and address concerns.
“We encourage everyone to join us for a productive and candid conversation. Phoebe Sumter exists solely to serve this community, and we know hearing directly from our community will help ensure we are doing that well and are living up to the Phoebe vision, ‘to make every life we touch, better,’” Walton said.
The event is open to the public, and community members are encouraged to share the announcement widely.
