Governor Declares June National Scoliosis Awareness Month
ATLANTA, Ga. – This week, Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta received a proclamation signed by Governor Kemp declaring June as National Scoliosis Awareness Month. Governor Kemp and First Lady Marty Kemp took a photo and met with Children’s Orthopedics and Sports Medicine Center leadership, scoliosis patients and their families and even Queso, one of Children’s facility dogs that supports the Ortho program.
Scoliosis is a sideways curve of the spine that happens to about 3% of children. Children’s provides specialized pediatric scoliosis care, including early detection, screening, and treatment by pediatric orthopedic specialists. Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta’s Orthopedic and Sports Medicine Center is currently ranked ninth in the country for Orthopedics in 2025-2026 by U.S. News & World Report.
