Emergency agencies run Emergency Action Plan exercise

(ALBANY, Ga)- First responders from across Southwest Georgia were in Chehaw Park Tuesday to run through disaster protocols.

Agencies ranging from Dougherty County law enforcement and EMS to the national weather service discussed and practiced plans in the event of another weather emergency.

Dougherty County EMA Specialist, Jenna Chang tells us, “We don’t want our residents to have to wait on us to figure it out.We want to have as many solutions ready as we can. So that we can protect the community as best we can.

While Adrienne Tickle with Georgia Power says, “Our teams are going to work from Atlanta, to the National Weather Service in Tallahassee, to the Georgia Emergency Management Agency across the state to the local Emergency Management Agencies. And we all play different roles to ensure that the public is protected if anything did happen.”

The meeting Tuesday covered potential emergencies to the Flint River Dam and the Lake Blackshear hydroelectric projects.
