Deerfield-Windsor looking to make history by defeating John Milledge Academy

Knights will play Trojans on Thursday night for 3A state championship

ALBANY, GA – The 3A GIAA state championship kicks off Thursday night between Deerfield-Windsor and John Milledge Academy.

The Knights will have a tough challenge as the Trojans are currently on a 49-game win streak dating back to 2018. The win streak is the longest in Georgia High School football.

Deerfield head coach, Jake McCrae, said the Knights will need all hands on deck if they plan to beat John Milledge, while running back Ethan Johnson believes the team will need to be perfect on offense and defense to win.

The Knights are playing in their first state championship game since 2015, and look to win the title for the first time since 2012.

If Deerfield can succeed, it will be one for the record books.
