DCSS students get new coats through national initiative

(ALBANY, GA)-The Dougherty County School System was in the giving spirit Thursday.

The district gave out more than 300 new Winter Coats to students at Northside Elementary School as part of the nationwide initiative known as Operation Warm.

In a partnership with Exelon Generation, the Dougherty County School System was able to give students more than 500 coats.

“Being a part of this community is very important for us to give back. So we see the opportunity to provide coats to Dougherty County Schools, and so we wanted to get involved, and we partner with Operation Warm to do so,” says Michael Simelton from Exelon Generations.

The extra coats went to students at Martin Luther King Jr Elementary School.
