Crisp County’s Micaylen Holmes signs basketball scholarship with Coastal Alabama

Holmes averaged 14.8 points per game in her senior year

CORDELE, GA – Crisp County girls basketball is saying good-bye to one of their best players in recent years as Micaylen Holmes announced her intent to play for Coastal Alabama for the next two years.

The Sun Chiefs wrapped up their 2022 season with a 17-9 record and a playoff loss to Wallace State Community College in the first round of the NJCAA Tournament.

Next season they’ll be adding a “smart dog” who averaged 18.8 points and 4.3 steals per game to help the team get to the championship during her two years there.

“I chose Coastal Alabama because I saw they’re all family,” Holmes said. “For [head coach Cedric Yelding] to keep reaching out and keep pushing for me, that made me feel like he really wanted me.”
