Crisp County voter turnout low, incumbents keep positions

CORDELE, Ga. – Of Crisp County’s 3,376 voters, only 659 cast ballots Tuesday, and the night was a winner for the incumbents.

In Arabi, R, Craig Huckaby, the incumbent mayor received 70 of the 73 votes cast in that election. He raun unopposed. The remaining three votes were cast for write-ins.

Arabi Post 3 City Councilman Lee Clark maintained his seat with 52 votes compared to his challenger Wayne Harris who received 24 votes. Incumbent Arabi Post 4 City Councilman Robert Southwell received 66 votes compared 17 votes garnered by his challenger William Scharfenberg IV.

Cordele City Commissioner for Ward 1, incumbent Vesta Beal Shephard received 89 votes compared to her challenger Milton Holly Jr. who received 47 votes.

Cordele City Commissioner for Ward 4, incumbent Wesley Rainey received 177 votes to challenger Joshua Deriso’s 77 votes.

The vote totals do not include provisional votes.
