Cordele Police make arrest in Saturday shooting
No one hurt in parking lot disturbance, suspect wanted by other agencies on unrelated charges
CORDELE, GA – A 25 year old Cordele man is facing charges in connection to a Saturday shooting outside a local convenience store.
Cordele Police Lieutenant Charles Pheil says Tyrone Caruthers was picked up and arrested Monday afternoon in Sunset Homes.
Caruthers faces counts of Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Crime, Reckless Conduct, Firearm Discharged Near Public Highway, and Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon. Pheil adds that Caruthers also had active warrants through other local agencies unrelated to this case.
Pheil says officers with the Cordele Police Department responded to the Divya Food Mart around 1p Saturday. A shooting had been reported there, following a disturbance in the parking lot. No arrests were made at the scene as the shooter fled before law enforcement arrived. Through the course of the investigation, it was found that Tyrone Caruthers was the suspected gunman.
Caruthers was processed and booked at the Cordele Police Department and later transported to the Crisp County Detention Center.
