Cordele Lions Club installs new officers

CORDELE, Ga. — Members of the Cordele Lions Club celebrated another year of service to the community.

During their regular meeting Tuesday, 15 members of the club were installed as new officers to serve the organization during the 2019-2020 year. Crisp County Sheriff and Lion, Billy Hancock installed the new officers, reading each appointee the duties of their position. Each new officer swore to fulfill those obligations to the best of their ability. 2018-2019 president, Tim Kilpatrick, thanked Lions for a great year.

“Thank you for making my year so easy,” he said. “We work very hard to give it back to the community and that says a lot.”

Kilpatrick presented the Lion of the Year award to Lion Linda Hawkins. He then passed the gavel on to his successor, Lion Willie Mae Dexter, who will serve as club president for the 2019-2020 year.

“It is my humble pleasure to accept the honor and challenge of being the president of the Cordele Lions Club,” she said. “With pride and gratitude I accept this duty.”

Dexter presented Kilpatrick with a plaque honoring his service as the immediate past president.
