Employee found dead in Cordele motel room
The employee was said to have not reported to work for days prior to the body being discovered.
CORDELE, GA- A body was found early Tuesday morning at the Travelodge motel in Cordele.
Officials say the deceased is a white male who was not just working at the motel, but also living there.
The victim’s name has not been revealed at this time and although living at the motel temporarily, he was not a local resident of Cordele. However, sources say he had not reported to work days prior to the body being discovered.
It wasn’t until Tuesday morning his approximately two-day old body was found inside his motel room. Officials say that the door was bolted shut, causing hotel employees and others to break and enter through the bedroom window before calling 911.
During South Georgia Television’s efforts to report the story, we were approached and kicked off of the motel property and the owners denied to speak on the issue.
Crisp County Coroner, Ricky Dawson was unable to speak on camera, but stated he did not suspect foul play at this time.
However, this investigation remains ongoing and an autopsy will be performed to determine the direct cause of death.
