Atlanta Dream select three players in WNBA Draft
Haley Jones, Laeticia Amihere, Leigha Brown all selected by Dream
NEW YORK – The WNBA Draft wrapped up Monday night with the Atlanta Dream ending their party with three picks.
Stanford’s Haley Jones went sixth overall to the Dream. She put up a career-high 13.5 points, four assists and nine rebounds per game in her senior season. She also finished her Cardinal career as the only player with 1,400+ points, 800+ rebounds, 350+ assists, and 100+ blocks.
“We’re super excited to bring in a talent like that and versatility,” Dream head coach Tanisha Wright said. “Her ability to see the floor and the vision that she has, her ability to make others around her better; I think she’ll fit in well with our system.”
The Dream would select South Carolina big Laeticia Amihere with the eighth overall pick in the draft, looking to add size and defense to the team.
“Her length and her athletic ability has me excited,” Wright said. “When you watched her at South Carolina, there were times where they just needed a mix up, and they threw her in and she was a game changer.”
The Dream wrapped up their night after they selected Michigan guard Leigha Brown in the second round, who averaged 17.5 points, 5.8 assists and 5.1 rebounds per game last season.
