APD searching for answers following weekend shooting injuring 4

3 of the four victims were minors, according to Albany Police

ALBANY, Ga. – The Albany Police Department (APD) wants parents to know where their children are at all times. This message coming down Tuesday after four people were shot including 3 minors Sunday at Driskell Park.

“Some unknown person came up in a car, fired shots injuring 4 people.” said Sgt. Catoa Baldwin with the Albany Police Department

A 25-year-old and 3 minors, the youngest being just 11 were struck by the bullets. APD is now working around the clock searching for answers.

“The case is still under investigation as of right now.” said Sgt. Baldwin

One of the victims who was there watching a family member play on the court told police the suspect was wearing a black ski mask. Two others recall a red vehicle pulling up moments before shots were fired.

“I know that park is known for kids to go play, they usually play basketball at that park all day.” said Baldwin.

Which is causing the Albany Police to beef up security around that area, but Sgt. Baldwin says it now goes beyond police.

“We’ll continue to patrol that area.” said Sgt. Baldwin. “Not only at the park, just supervise your kids at all times. Make sure you know their whereabouts, and if you know what they’re doing. Just make sure you know exactly what’s going on with your kids.”
