Albany Museum of Art Holds a Surreal Fundraiser Saturday Night

Annual Art Celebration Taking Place in the AMA’s Future Home

ALBANY, Ga. – When the Albany Museum of Art (AMA) holds its fundraiser this weekend, party goers will be treated to a surreal experience.

The former Belk Department Store in downtown Albany will be the site of Art Ball 2026: the Surreal. This spectacular night will be filled with dining, dancing, and auctions for one-of-a-kind artworks. Like a surrealist artist turns the familiar into something imaginative, the AMA is on the threshold of transforming a vacant department store building into a vibrant new museum.

Art Ball 2026 will take place at 6:30 P.M. on Saturday night, and this is the last time any event will be conducted in the building until the new museum opens there in 2028. The Belk Department Store address is 140 West Broad Avenue in Albany. Individual tickets are $250, and they can be purchased by emailing chloe.hinton@albanymuseum.com.

“Art Ball has always been one of the most joyful expressions of our community’s belief in the Albany Museum of Art, but this year is particularly meaningful,” said AMA Executive Director Andrew James Wulf. “To gather in our future home at this defining moment is both celebratory and symbolic. We will be standing inside of a space that is still on the way to becoming what it is meant to be, just as our community is helping shape the museum’s next chapter through its generosity, imagination, and shared sense of possibility.”

The Albany Museum of Art is currently located at 311 Meadowlark Drive in Albany and is open to the public 10:00 A.M. through 5:00 P.M. Tuesdays through Saturdays. Admission is free. For more information about the AMA and exhibits there, visit albanymuseum.com on the web.
