Albany and Dougherty County Activate Operation Safe Place

ALBANY, Ga. – On Thursday, the City of Albany, with the assistance of Dougherty County, will activate Operation Safe Place to offer people a place to cool down during the hottest days of the year. 

Below is a list of locations available to anyone needing a break from the South Georgia heat and the times they are open to the public. 

  • The Albany Transportation Center • Address: 300 W. Oglethorpe Boulevard
  • Hours of Operation: Monday – Friday: 6 a.m. – 7 p.m.
  • Saturday: 7 a.m. – 2 p.m. (unless otherwise notified)
  • Sunday: Closed (unless otherwise notified)
  • The Dougherty County Public Library Central Branch in Downtown • Address: 300 Pine Avenue
  • Hours of Operation Monday – Wednesday: 10 a.m. – 8 p.m.
  • Thursday & Friday: 10 a.m. – 6 p.m.
  • Saturday: 10 a.m. – 5 p.m.
  • Sunday: 2 p.m. – 6 p.m.
  • The Northwest Library Branch • Address: 2507 Dawson Road
  • Hours of Operation: Monday: 10 a.m. – 8 p.m.
  • Tuesday & Wednesday: 10 a.m. – 6 p.m.
  • Thursday: 10 a.m. – 8 p.m.
