Flint RiverQuarium opens doors to public for in-person event

ALBANY, Ga. – Many summer activities have been pushed down the road due to the coronavirus pandemic but the Flint RiverQuarium is planning their first in-person event for this weekend.
The aquarium closed their doors to the public since March, opting for virtual activities instead.
Beginning this weekend, things will be a little different for the local attraction, the aquarium building is still closed until further notice but their in-person program, called “Adventure Seekers,” will be hosted inside the Imagination Theatre lobby, as there will be more room for social distancing there. The facility will also be sanitized frequently, masks are encouraged and social distancing guidelines will be followed.
The theme for this month’s “Adventure Seekers” program will be honoring World Ocean’s Day. Flint RiverQuarium’s new film, Sea Lion Rescue, will be shown at 10 am Saturday in the Imagination Theater, followed by a brief program and ocean-themed craft in the theater lobby.
Even though new procedures are taking place, Flint RiverQuarium employees are excited to be back.
“We’re super excited,” says Education Coordinator, Malloree Holcombe, “We have missed the public we have missed the school children and the kids coming in the aquarium and so we’re excited that we get to finally have an outreach program with people to come see us. We love each other and we love the animals but we’re ready for some faces.”
