Two killed in Albany shooting; suspect on the loose
Two people are dead following a shooting Monday night on West Mercer Avenue

ALBANY, GA– Albany Police responded to the 300 block of West Mercer Avenue around 9:15 p.m. in reference to a call of shots fired.
When officers arrived on the scene, they found two male subjects both suffering from multiple gun shot wounds.
Albany Police Chief Michael Persley telling South Georgia Television News, “one subject was deceased upon the arrival of officers, the other subject died prior to EMS arriving on the scene. As of right now we are just canvassing the area, getting our witnesses.”
As of now, there is at least one suspect, but an arrest has not been made.
“A vague description of the suspect is a black male in a dark colored vehicle” says Persley. “Right now we’re just processing everything around here to try to determine what all happened, so we’ll be here for a while.”
Both victims were fatally shot in the same area, just feet apart from one another, but a motive for this double homicide is unknown. At this time, no other injuries or victims have been reported. Chief Persley says that West Mercer Avenue is not a popular area from crimes like this to occur.
APD has identified the victims, but are in the process of notifying both families. Updates are to come when that information is received.
