LAKE PARK, GA – Roundabout construction at Exit 2 in Lowndes County will temporarily change the way some drivers access the Interstate 75 North on ramp.

A contractor plans to finish pouring concrete Tuesday, June 14, on the roundabout on the east end of the interstate overpass. This is the roundabout closest to the TA Travel Center.

Traffic going east on Bellville Road will not be able to turn left at the traffic signal to get onto I-75 North. Drivers will continue on Bellville Road, use a turnaround located across the road from Speedco Truck Lube and Tires and go west to reach the northbound on ramp. This pattern is expected to be in place for a couple of weeks.

This will not impact any other traffic, unless a motorist traveling north on I-75 mistakenly exits and wants to get back on the interstate. That driver will have to turn right onto Bellville Road and use the turnaround to reach the northbound on ramp.

The original two-lane overpass at Exit 2 was built in 1961. Reconstruction of the interchange to improve operation and provide room for any future interstate widening is currently scheduled to be complete in September. Total project cost is approximately $49 million, which includes preliminary engineering, right of way and construction.
