TIFTON, GA – Two suspects from Lawrenceville face drug trafficking charges after a collaborative effort between the GBI, Tift County Sheriff’s Office, the Georgia State Patrol and ATF nets a large amount of heroin and methamphetamine.

Agents say they recovered 5 kilograms of methamphetamine and a kilogram of heroin with Friday’s arrests of 35 year old Jose Luis Pena-Ferraras and 43 year old Ismil Rodriguez-Aybar.

Both were arrested in the parking lot of a Tifton hotel Friday after the search of their vehicle, which also turned up a handgun, according to authorities.

Agents believe both suspects have been supplying the South Georgia area with illicit narcotics.

At last report, both were bring held in the Tift County Jail.
