Search warrant leads to four arrests, recovered guns, cash and marijuana

ALBANY, GA – The Albany Police Department executed a search warrant at 701 Gilbert Lane on May 3, 2022. As a result of the search warrant, four males were arrested, four firearms, a felony amount of marijuana, and approximately $2800 in cash were all recovered. The arrests are connected to a shooting at 405 E. Whitney Avenue on April 16, 2022, where multiple rounds were fired. A bullet struck one person.

Jartavius Joffrion, 22, Condarius Tumblin 21, Demonye Byrd 18, and a juvenile, 15, were charged with four counts of Aggravated Assault and one count of Reckless Conduct.

The arrests and search warrant were a collaborative effort between the Albany Police Department’s Criminal Investigation Bureau and Gang Unit, the Albany-Dougherty Drug Unit, and the Albany-Dougherty S.W.A.T. During the search warrant, officers also located items from several Entering Automobiles and Motor Vehicle Thefts that occurred in Lee County. The drugs were turned over to A.D.D.U., and they will be handling that aspect of the investigation. A.P.D. and Lee County Sheriff’s Office are continuing the investigation of the stolen property. This case remains under investigation, and additional arrests are expected.

Additional Background:

On April 18, 2022, the Albany Police Department’s Gang Unit responded to the 1300 block of 10th Avenue about shots fired. During the investigation, Gang Unit Investigators identified 1305 10th Avenue in connection with the incident. A search warrant was conducted at the residence, and four adults were arrested.

All were charged with Theft by Receiving Stolen Firearm, Possession of Marijuana with the Intent to Distribute, Possession of Drug Related Objects, and Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of Certain crimes.

Perry was also charged with Discharging a Firearm Near a Public Street. This investigation was connected to shootings at 405 E. Whitney Avenue and 2214 Gillionville Road which occurred on April 16, 2022. Six firearms were recovered, one of which had been reported stolen.

Further investigation by Albany Police Department Criminal Investigations Bureau resulted in the search warrant at 701 Gilbert Ln. where three adults and one juvenile were arrested.
