Albany native creates Black-owned social media app
Raven Wilson is the creator and founder of RAMSE, and says that the app has gained huge traction since it's been released.

ALBANY, Ga. – If you’ve been looking for a social media app that is Black owned and inspired, you’re just in luck.
We talked with an Albany native who designed RAMSE that is now a big hit in both the Apple App Store and Google Play.
“I like social media, I feel like social media is a great outreach to people. You can use it as far as a learning experience tool, you can use it as far as network, you can use it as far as business.” said Raven Wilson, founder of RAMSE. “I feel like we need a green book of avenue. Somewhere we can actually network on. Get in contact with other people that have the same mindset that we have, or some of the same goals or same interest.”
With RAMSE there are features that set it aside from other social media apps such as the black light.
“So the black light is basically a small alarm that sits on the right hand sign of your timeline. You press and hold for three seconds. It also sends out an ‘I need help message’ to all your followers.” said Wilson
Wilson adds that the app allows users to easily access new content, whether in town or on the road.
“Instead of just scrolling up your timeline, trying to see what’s going on. Or you’re in a different city, you don’t know what to do; that’s when the RAMSE room comes in to play.” said Wilson.
RAMSE is Black inspired, but it’s creator knows the value of inclusivity for all.
“It’s for everybody. I don’t want nobody to ever get it misconstrued as far as blacks only. That’s not true. I welcome everybody to the social media app. It’s just black owned.”
And it’s enjoying newfound popularity, gaining 11,000 users in it’s first week alone, surpassing KIK, Skype, and Clubhouse along the way. But Wilson cautions his massive digital leap, has been one out of many small steps.
“It was tough. I’m not going to say it was an easy project but I endured and I knew that I could do it. So to anybody that ever thought they couldn’t do nothing, or couldn’t get on a certain scale; I’m here to tell you no matter where you’re from you can do it if you just believe in yourself.” said Wilson.
