Moultrie Fire Department Remembers Former Battalion Chief

Decal on Engine One in honor of Captain Johnson

MOULTRIE, Ga. – The Moultrie Fire Department is honoring and remembering one of their own with a special decal on their truck.

43 year department veteran Captain Bill Johnson was still working with the Moultrie Fire Department when he passed away in 2019 due to a massive heart attack. We talked with his long-time friend and colleague, Battalion Chief Todd Braswell who described Johnson as being very well liked and involved in the community.

“Captain Johnson was always outgoing, one great person, always easy to get along with, and is 100 percent deserved because he was such an outstanding guy, great person to work for, always had a great attitude, it’s truly an honor.” says Lieutenant Alex Garner. Garner also tells us that the decal is just part of a small tribute to the late gentle giant.

The family was surprised with the decal when they went out to get straw, which is what Chief Braswell tells us that Captain Johnson and his family did every year.
