Gunfire lands suspected drug dealer behind bars
23 year old Traevon Blackshear arrested Monday on host of charges

CORDELE, GA – Gunfire may have inadvertently tipped off a clandestine neighborhood drug dealer to local authorities.
Crisp County deputies say 23 year old Traevon Blackshear of Cordele was arrested Monday afternoon on a host of charges which include the discharge of firearms on or near public highway or street, aggravated assault, reckless conduct, possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime, and possession of marijuana with intent to distribute.
Deputies say it began just before noon Monday, when a Cordele Police Officer heard gunfire near the intersection of Joe Wright Drive and 24th Avenue.
The officer was able to distinguish the suspected car and vehicle tag, which was found an hour later at a West 17th Avenue residence.
Sheriff Billy Hancock and Cordele Police Department Chief Mike Hathaway responded with Crisp County Sheriff’s Deputies to the scene.
The suspect, identified as Traevon Blackshear was escorted out of the house and placed under arrest without incident according to deputies.
Authorities say a search of both the house and car revealed jars and bags of suspected marijuana, cash, ammunition, and three guns.
At last report, Blackshear was being held in the Crisp County Detention Center.
