Everything’s Coming Up Daylilies in Adel Saturday
ADEL, Ga. – The Cook County Chamber of Commerce invites everyone to join them for the 20th Annual Daylily Festival in Adel this Saturday. “Our community celebrates the beauty of the daylily, and we are known as the “City of Daylilies,” said Heather Green, President of the Cook County Chamber of Commerce.
Festivities begin at 9 a.m. at the Depot in Downtown Adel. when the Daylily City 5K Walk/Run participants begin arriving in town. “We have 75 runners already registered for the Daylily 5K and expect another 25 the day of,” said Ms. Green. The Daylily Festival is also the place to be for fun, food, and arts and crafts. “We’ve got over 100 vendors joining us, and for our area that’s phenomenal,” said Ms. Green. “This is the largest event held in Cook County each year with the exception of motorsports park happenings”
Needless to say, putting an event this large together is a massive undertaking. “The Cook Chamber is a staff of two and we are thankful for many volunteers that help make our annual fundraiser a success,” said Ms. Green.
The Daylily Festival Cruise-In cranks up when a variety of show-worthy vehicles, including classics, customs, trucks, Jeeps, and motorcycles start lining up on 5th Street at 9. The car show starts at 10. There will be live music throughout the day, and lots to do for the kids. “The Chamber is excited to offer an entertainment lineup featuring local talent,” Ms. Green said, “South Georgia has so much to offer, and community festivals like ours are a great way to welcome visitors and to spotlight local retailers, restaurants, and things to do year round.”
