Dogs for Dogs Fundraisers Help Pets in South Georgia
ADEL, Ga. – May is National Pet Month, and one local banking institution is taking a filling approach to helping pets in the community. First Commerce Credit Union in Adel is inviting the public to their 5th Annual Liz Nix Fundraiser for Animal Rescue to help make a paw-sitive difference in the lives of pets in need. The Dogs for Dogs program kicks off at the First Commerce Financial Center in Adel from 11:00 A.M. To 1:00 P.M. on Friday, May 8TH and a $5 donation gets lunch goers a hot dog, chips, and a drink, while supporting local animal rescue.

All funds raised throughout the month are distributed directly to participating, community-based rescue organizations, with 100% of proceeds staying local to support rescue, adoption, medical care, and humane animal welfare efforts.
First Commerce’s Liz Nix Fundraiser for Animal Rescue benefits Hearts to Homes Humane Society in Nashville and the Humane Society of Valdosta/Lowndes County – organizations that do transformative work for their local communities. “The compassionate work these organizations do makes all of our communities healthier,” said First Commerce Credit Union CEO Cecilia Homison. “Our mission to empower generations and transform communities includes animals, which are so close to our hearts.”
The Liz Nix Fundraiser runs May 1ST – 31ST at First Commerce branches throughout south Georgia, and raises funds and awareness for animals in need while making a direct, life‑saving impact in communities. Since its launch in 2022, the fundraiser has raised more than $35,000 and continues to grow each year while remaining rooted in compassion, advocacy, and responsible pet ownership.
