City of Albany Launches COA Youth Work Program

ALBANY, Ga. – The City of Albany (CoA) Youth Work Program matches students with employers to gain meaningful wok experience and essential job readiness skills. The program is open to students between the ages of 16 through 18, and takes place from June 1 through July 31. It will provide structured placements within City departments, and workforce literacy sessions focusing on professionalism, financial literacy, resume development, and career readiness.

As part of the broader Albany 100 Summer Initiative, the City is partnering with local employers to expand youth employment opportunities throughout the community. The Albany 100 initiative allows businesses to participate at various levels by offering paid or unpaid internship experiences based on their needs.

The City will host a youth job fair at the Albany Civic Center on Saturday, May 2ND from 9 A.M. until 1 P.M. Participating employers will interview and select candidates in alignment with their organizational needs. The City can provide a structured model as a resource, and employers are encouraged to tailor internship experiences to best fit their operations.

Employers interested in participating in the CoA Youth Work Program are encouraged to contact Angela Calhoun at acalhoun@albanyga.gov or Towanna Howard at thoward@albanyga.gov.
