Gophers, Tortoises and Road Closures

DOUGLAS, GA – The second annual Gopher Tortoise Festival is October 1 and 2 in downtown Douglas. The festival will feature regional musicians, arts and crafts, a variety of food, children’s activities and more!

Something else the festival brings is road closures, so if you’re planning on being out and about in Douglas between 7 a.m. October 1 and 6 p.m. October 2 you may want to run your errands another day or plan to use a different route. Just remember that if you “gopher” groceries or food, traffic will probably be at the pace of a tortoise. Please drive carefully and watch for pedestrians in the area.
