Flint River Fresh hosts Georgia Ag Week events in Albany

ALBANY, Ga. – A weeklong celebration of agriculture is bringing hands-on events and community activities to Southwest Georgia.

Flint River Fresh is hosting a series of events March 23 through March 28 as part of Georgia Agriculture Awareness Week, which runs March 23 through March 29 statewide.

Organizers say the initiative is designed to turn awareness into action, engaging students, families, and community members through real-world agricultural experiences that highlight the connection between food, health, and community.

The week kicks off Monday with a hands-on community planting event at the 5th Avenue Garden at 5 p.m., followed by a youth-focused build night on Tuesday. Thursday’s schedule includes Ag Literacy Day, featuring story time and additional planting activities.

On Friday, organizers will host a Farm to Table event with food tastings at Wingbox & Seafood in Albany from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m.

The week wraps up Saturday with a “Buy Georgia Grown Day” pop-up market at Bridging New Life Ministries from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., featuring fresh produce, garden plants, and local vendors.

Organizers say the goal is to connect agriculture with youth development, wellness, and economic opportunity while giving families a chance to learn where their food comes from.
