City of Tifton announces road closures, parking rules for Rhythm and Ribs Festival

TIFTON, Ga. — The City of Tifton is preparing for the 13th annual Rhythm and Ribs Festival set for Friday and Saturday, March 6-7, with scheduled road closures and parking regulations in place to promote safety for residents and visitors.

Road Closures

Prince Avenue between 8th Street and 12th Street will close beginning at noon on Friday, March 6, and remain closed until 11 p.m. on Saturday, March 7, to accommodate festival activities.

In addition, Tift Avenue between 8th Street and 12th Street will close from 5 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Saturday for the event.

City officials said the closures are designed to enhance pedestrian safety during the downtown festival. While acknowledging the inconvenience to residents, officials expressed appreciation for the community’s flexibility and understanding.

Parking and Safety Guidelines

The city, in partnership with the Tifton Police Department, has released a public parking notice outlining approved parking areas, prohibited zones, restricted areas and enforcement details. The notice is available through the city’s official channels.

The police department also issued safety reminders for festivalgoers, encouraging attendees to lock vehicle doors, roll up windows and avoid leaving valuables visible inside vehicles. Visitors are urged to stay alert, be aware of their surroundings and use the buddy system when walking to and from parking areas.

Officials advise anyone who sees suspicious activity to report it. Emergencies should be reported by dialing 911. Non-emergency calls may also be directed to 911, where dispatchers will route the call appropriately.

City officials wish attendees a safe and enjoyable weekend at the festival. More information about Rhythm and Ribs is available at tiftonribsfest.com.
