Job Opening: Master Control Operator

Reports to
Operations Manager

Job purpose
To operate and track programming schedules to ensure timely airing of the advertisements paid for by their stations’ client-advertisers

Duties and responsibilities

Master Control Operator Job Duties:

• Loads, interprets and manages the broadcast log operation through station automation.  Adjusting the log for accuracy and timing and correctness.
• Moves and edits the log to accommodate the timely airing of programming and paid commercial elements.
• Operates systems to ensure that network programming airs or is recorded as needed.
• Operates systems to capture, record and transcode programming and commercials.
• Insures the technical and observable quality of all air content is correct.
• Acts in concert with studio operations to produce and air live or recorded studio content.
• Maintains a discrepancy log to ensure awareness of any on-air event that is either technically incorrect or missing.  Notes any changes that impact programming orpaid commercial.
• Maintains a log tracking transmitter and tower light operations
• Reports any technical issues to the station engineer in a timely manager.
• Times all air content for correct ins, segments and outs
• Interfaces with traffic and sales to ensure all air content airs as required.
• Performs periodic EAS tests as required by the FCC

Qualifications

Qualifications include:

• Associates Degree Preferred but not required.
• Specialized knowledge in broadcasting preferred
• Skills – Basic Math, ability to multi-task
• Basic computer knowledge preferred

Working conditions

General Office environment, must be able to lift up to 20 lbs
