Georgia Southwestern holds high school baseball camp

AMERICUS, GA – Georgia Southwestern baseball threw out the first pitch of their annual teams camps Thursday morning.

“A lot of high school teams from this state play with their actual high school during the few weeks of June,” GSW head baseball coach Josh McDonald said. “I have a lot of respect for programs that do that and for the players that take the time during that to play with their high school team.”

McDonald also said these camps benefit his program just as much as they do.

“Baseball in this state is very rich,” McDonald said. “I think it’s a good opportunity to keep kids coming here and keep it being the fastest growing institution in the state.”

McDonald said the sign up to attend the camps for the rest of the week and next week have been closed. Those applications normally start going out in January. So you can expect to be able to sign your team up in January of 2025.
