Turner County introduces new wrestling head coach
ASHBURN, GA – Thursday afternoon, Turner County High School held a meet and greet to introduce their new wrestling head coach, Chris Cowart, who will be replacing Jacob Bishoff.
“I just want to go ahead and lay the foundations,” Cowart said. “I remember when I was in high school, coach Affolo set expectations and made people happy and poured energy into the program, and we just want to start back and get back to that Turner county wrestling.”
Cowart is no stranger to the mat either, as he began his wrestling career in seventh grade but would later turn to coaching after he graduated from Georgia Southern.
His first gig was at Chattahoochie High school where would coach his team to second place in the region in his first year.
From there, he went to Central Macon where he would start with two wrestlers but would end his tenure with two region championships and two elite 8 appearances.
But his biggest goal isn’t titles, it’s helping his athletes get better in the classroom.
