CORDELE, GA – The suspect wanted in connection with the fatal shootings of at least 8 people in the greater Atlanta area was captured Tuesday night in Crisp County.
21 year old Robert Aaron Long was caught shortly after 8pm on I-75, just north of the Arabi city limits and is currently being held in the Crisp County Detention Center.
Crisp County Sheriff’s Office Public Information Officer Haley Little says the department received notice from the Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office that a wanted suspect may be traveling southbound in a black Hyundai Tucson on Interstate 75.
Deputies and the Georgia State Patrol spotted the vehicle around mile marker 101, near the Cordele city limits and a chase ensued down the interstate.
According to Little, a GSP Trooper stopped the suspect’s car near mile marker 93 via a PIT maneuver.
The suspect was taken into custody without incident, Little added.
Long is wanted in connection to the fatal shootings at Atlanta area spa parlors earlier in the evening.
Updated reports out of Atlanta say some of the eight victims killed were of Asian descent, two more victims were wounded.
Late Tuesday evening, Crisp County authorities say they are awaiting the arrival of Cherokee County deputies, for Long’s transport back to Canton.
