Lee County man charged with Sexual Exploitation of Children

LEESBURG, Ga. — Lee County Sheriff’s Office Special Victim’s Unit arrested Registered Sex Offender John Therman Royal Jr. today after an investigation spanning several weeks.

Royal has been charged with 1 count of Sexual Exploitation of children. He was convicted of Aggravated Child Molestation in 1994 in Worth County, GA, and was released from the Georgia Department of Corrections in 2011 and has been registering as a sex offender in Lee County since that time.

The arrest was made with coordinated efforts of The Dougherty County Sheriff’s Office and Georgia’s Department of Community Supervision. The Lee County Sheriff’s Office Special Victim’s Unit will be continuing the investigation.
