Tift County Hall of Famer Tadric Jackson returns for 2nd annual youth camp

Former Tift basketball star, Tadric Jackson, returned to the 229

TIFTON, Ga- Former Georgia Tech Alumni and Tift County basketball star, state champion and hall of famer, Tadric Jackson, has spent the past two days on his home court passing along his basketball skills and knowledge through his second annual youth camp.

Since graduating college, Jackson has spent the past few years hooping professionally overseas but says he will always find time to come home and teach the game.

“Those fans, the parents, the community, Tift County, those people sacrificed their time to come watch me play for four years here and watch me win a state championship for Tifton. So I just feel like coming back is greatly appreciated and I’m grateful i get to come back and teach these kids. As long as I’m here, I’m showing I’m on the court, I’m breathing and able to teach, that’s what I want to do,” said Jackson.

This 6-hour camp gives him the chance to work with young athletes individually. His goal is to teach them intermediate moves and skills most camps shy away from, regardless of a campers age.

“I want to teach the fundamentals, but I want to actually add a little spice. I want to teach them what it’s going to look like in a game. I want to teach them full speed because you’re not going to get an easy layup in a game. You’re not always going to get an easy floater, and easy dunk. There’s always going a defender, somebody bigger, somebody taller. So you’re going to have to you know, switch it up, you know? Your finishers, your dribbling moves, it all has to be something different,” Jackson explained.

Jackson says as long as he is breathing, he plans to come back home every year, and looks forward to meeting and working with new campers.
