Worth County officials hold Legislative Luncheon

(SYLVESTER, Ga)- As part of Georgia Cities Week, the City of Sylvester invited government officials for a Legislative Luncheon at City Hall Thursday afternoon.

Sylvester Mayor, Bill Year says the luncheon gives elected officials the best chance to look at the communities they represent.

Mayor Yearta says, “It is a chance for our community of Sylvester to showcase what our projects are, and what’s going on in our community, and to bring our legislators and congressmen and other elected officials in the state down to see what’s happening in Sylvester.”

Guests at the luncheon included Congressman, Austin Scott and Georgia Secretary of State, Brad Raffensperger.

They spoke on matters such as new voting machines and the ongoing efforts to get funding for recovery from Hurricane Michael.

Raffensperger tells us, “As a statewide elected office holder, I think it’s very important that we touch all corners of Georgia and every place in between. Because we’re all Georgians, and everyone has a stake in what we do to make Georgia a better place.”

While Congressman Scott says, “The cities and local government, that’s where our services are delivered to the people, and so we very much appreciate what the mayor and city council do the for citizens here in Sylvester.”

Georgia Cities Week ends after Saturday, April 27th.
